Rancho El Sendero at El Potrero Chico

This place is phenomenal, a bit pricey but you’re pretty close to the climbing and it is the center of the social scene at EPC. That being said, (someone back me up on this!!) the bunks are incredibly awkward to climb into. I know this is a climbing hostel, but I should have to do a v2 boulder problem with a heel hook just to climb into bed! Am I just a Gumby or did anyone else notice this?? The rungs of the ladders are spaced so far apart and the placed in spots where you have to crimp the flat part instead of being able to just grab the rung. Everything else was amazing but I feel like this is an issue actually worth addressing!

This is the BEST place to stay in Potrero. It feels more like home than anything else. I love this place

Incredible place to stay while climbing in Potrero. It isn't the closest place to stay to the climbing but it's the best value around! The WiFi was great even with other folks using it as well. The restaurant has awesome breakfast food and the bar upstairs is relaxing!

I think Rancho Sendero is the best place to stay in El Potrero Chico, hands down. There is a crew of workers who keep the place spotless all day. The bathrooms are super clean. The kitchen is fully stocked (including an air fryer!) and plenty of storage and fridge space. The employees are super kind and feel like family. I felt safe at Sendero. It’s is one of the further accommodations to the canyon, but it’s only a mile walk and I don’t mind the walking. It kept me fit and active for climbing! The community at Sendero is also top notch. I have met some of the greatest people here.

Awesome experience! Beautiful grounds & views, a lovely pool, hot tub and fire pit, excellent outdoor seating options, a spacious restaurant & bar, small shop, huge community kitchen and the best thing about this place is the sincerely warm customer service from the family and staff. Our room is simple but sufficient - extra firm queen bed, multiple electrical outlets, heat, hot water, dresser, small desk & decent private bathroom. 15-20 min walk to the crag.

We stayed here two weeks for our rock climbing trip and had the best time. The room was Very comfortable. I loved having the option to eat at their restaurant or cook my own food. The lady working at the restaurant, Fini, was probably my favorite person here, she’s just so nice. The food was cheap and good. The owners were super friendly and really cared about making sure you were happy.

Room is great, vibe is amazing, staff are nice, fridges are out of space.

We had a wonderful time at Rancho El Sendero. We stayed in a king bed room, it was clean, the AC cold, the water hot! But what made the stay were the people. The staff and owners are incredibly kind and accommodating. They were patient with our poor Spanish and we really enjoyed getting to know them and spending time there. The place itself is relaxing and beautiful, and a perfect location to be able to walk both to town and climbing. We can't wait to come back!
